South East London Race Equality Community Network
RENET is the South East London Race Equality Community Network. It is a group of people from the south east London community, from all walks of life, working together to eliminate discrimination in the NHS south east London. RENET was formed in November 2002 and is hosted by Guy's and St Thomas'.
Joining the network
RENET would like to encourage community groups, friends and family to join the network and make a contribution towards the network. The network plays an important role in ensuring that the NHS meets the needs of local communities. As well as sharing knowledge and information about community needs and experiences with the NHS and to identify how best to meet the needs.
Joining RENET will also give you the opportunity to learn about the NHS since its formation nearly sixty years ago.
So far RENET has developed links with the Windsor Fellowship to offer placements to talented young people from the Black and minority ethnic communities (BME), developed a leadership programme for BME staff in the NHS and contributed to the many consultations on health by the Department of Health.
Our meetings
If you have any ideas, comments or experiences that you would like to share with RENET or if you would like to attend one of our meetings you are most welcome. Together we can develop shared objectives and priorities in order to achieve equality of access and treatment with the NHS. You can drop in at one of our meetings and learn more or make a contribution – it all counts towards making the NHS better for BME communities.
Meeting dates
All the meetings will take place at 12 noon - 2pm at the South East London NHS, Lower Marsh, London, SE1.
