Our service strategy
The annual plan (PDF 332Kb) is for the three years from 2011/12 – 2013/14 and is set within the context of the King's Health Partners' vision, mission and strategic objectives as described in the King's Health Partners' Strategic Framework 2010 - 2014 (PDF 476Kb).
The plan sets out key organisational priorities for Guy's and St Thomas' within this context, and within the wider economic and policy context. There are two over-riding priorities:
1. To deliver high quality sustainable services
This will require us to maintain, set and improve standards of safety, clinical outcomes and patient experience that enhance our reputation for excellence, whilst significantly increasing the productivity and efficiency of all our operations across our hospitals and community services.
2. To progress a limited number of strategic service developments
As part of the Trust’s contribution to achieving the vision and strategic objectives of Kings Health Partners, we are committed over the next three years to developing excellent cancer, cardiovascular and children’s services and associated academic activity, and to integrating hospital and community services.
To support these two overarching objectives, we will need to:
A. Continue to develop King’s Health Partners’ Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC)
Working as part of the AHSC is the means by which we will achieve research and education becoming integral to innovative patient care. In addition this will support our ambitions in relation to a number of specialist services.
B. Transform major pathways of care
This will require us to change the way clinical care is organised and delivered across our hospital and community services, and how this interfaces with primary and social care services.
C. Develop supporting systems and infrastructure to enable or facilitate delivery of our priorities.
