Calls are answered by voice recognition.  The system asks you for the name of the person or department you need then puts you through automatically - saving you from having to queue and speak with an operator.

If voice recognition does not know the name of the person or department you will be put straight through to a switchboard operator.

Also, if you wish to speak to a switchboard operator at any point, just say the word 'operator'.
