Paediatric specialty registrar training
Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust provides paediatric posts within the Paediatric Specialty Training Programmes of London and Kent, Surrey and Sussex deaneries.
These programmes rotate through a variety of hospitals in South London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
The first three years of these programmes (ST1-3) are designed to offer comprehensive basic paediatric specialist training. The first year is in district general hospitals, with experience in general paediatrics and level 1 or 2 neonatology. Years 2 and 3 aim to provide further general experience and experience in a range of paediatric specialties.
Posts available
Paediatric posts at Guy's and St Thomas' are in years 2 and 3 of these training programmes. There are both run-through and fixed term training appointments (FTSTA) posts available. Most of the run-through programme involve posts in other hospitals within south London. All posts are of six months duration. There are currently posts in the following:
The size of the Children's Services and Clinical Genetics Directorate means that the clinical and educational opportunities from these post are immense. We are well known for the quality of our paediatric teaching and have an excellent record in enabling our doctors to successfully sit their MRCPCH.
There is also a wide range of clinical research facilities in the academic department of paediatrics on site. All trainees will be supported with assessment and supervision as stipulated in the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health assessment strategy and curriculum.
