Diwali is the Hindu festival of light, dictated by the Hindu lunar calendar, and this year falls on 19 October, with five days of celebrations to follow across the world. It is particularly associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and has connotations with light overcoming darkness, and good overcoming evil.
