Guy’s and St Thomas’ is to become the national centre for treating children with a rare inherited disease that leaves them vulnerable to sunlight.

 


Ulcerative Colitis inflammatory legions Major new findings on the role of genetic defects in ulcerative colitis  - 16 November 2009

Genetic defects leading to a leaky gut are a key cause of the inflammatory disorder, ulcerative colitis, according to a major study supported by the National Institute for Health Research comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College London.

Sally Williams at her physiotherapy session An end to a lifetime of dizziness  - 09 November 2009 A woman who has suffered with severe dizziness since childhood has been cured after just seven physiotherapy rehabilitation sessions at the new balance clinic at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.  


Trust staff have deployed to Afghanistan Historic deployment to Afghanistan  - 27 October 2009

Six Guy’s and St Thomas’ staff have deployed to Afghanistan along with other army reservists in what is the largest group called up from a London hospital since the Korean War.

Immune monitoring technology in use Biomedical Research Centre searches for diagnostic clues  - 13 October 2009

Researchers from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College London are trying to find new ways to diagnose conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, kidney transplant rejection and psoriasis earlier than current laboratory tests allow.
