Biography
Andrew McIrvine was originally appointed as a general surgeon with an interest in vascular surgery but as the specialties developed and separated, he now specialises in vascular and endocrine.
Andrew was an ‘early adopter’ of the new endothermal techniques for the treatment of varicose veins and has one of the largest experiences in the UK. He has trained surgeons in these techniques nationally and internationally.
His initial appointment was in Dartford, and he still maintains outpatient services in Kent.
Andrew has served as Chairman of the Regional Higher Surgical Training Committee and is a past President of the Section of Surgery of the Royal Society of Medicine.

Education and training
Andrew trained as an undergraduate and postgraduate at St Thomas’ Hospital.
He also had postgraduate training in the USA at Brigham and Womens’ Hospital, Boston, (Harvard University) and in South Africa in Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town.
