High dependency units at St Thomas'
High dependency units (HDUs) are based on wards, but although they share the same telephone number they are managed separately from the wards.
Below is a list of the HDUs at St Thomas'. The links will take you to the relevant ward areas where each HDU is located. All of these areas have restricted visiting hours to make sure that patients can rest and recover from their illness.
Overnight intensive recovery unit
This is for patients who need extra care or monitoring after their operation. See what you can expect from the unit at St Thomas' Hospital.
Post-critical care follow-up clinic
All intensive care patients who are at risk of Post-intensive care syndrome (PICS) will be invited to attend an appointment around 2-3 months after discharge from hospital.
