Thrombosis and thrombophilia centre information for patients

Treating and preventing blood clots in those with ‘sticky’ blood

Changing or cancelling an appointment

To change or cancel an appointment call our reception on 020 7188 2781.

What to expect at your appointment

At an appointment you will have your base line pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and urine analysis performed before seeing an expert.

You will be given written as well as verbal information about your condition. You may require blood tests and radiological investigations after seeing the thrombosis team.

After your appointment

We routinely write to all the involved medical teams after your visit. Follow up arrangements will be organised at the time of the appointment. Should you experience any problems call our helpline on 020 7188 2736 or email thrombosishelp@gstt.nhs.uk.

Support

We are closely involved with Lifeblood: The Thrombosis Charity which has a lot of information about thrombosis.

Research and clinical trials

There is a huge amount of research taking place within the thrombosis and thrombophilia centre. You may be asked if you would like to take part in a trial at your clinic visit. If you do not want to enter a trial, this will not affect your medical care in any way.
