Interventional radiology

Interventional radiology is offered at both of our hospitals by appointment only. Please remember to check your appointment letter before you come for your scan.

What is interventional radiology?

Interventional radiology uses images eg x-ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound or CT, to target treatments. Treatments are minimal, reducing the need for open surgery.

Your scan is carried out by an interventional radiologist. He/she will use catheters (tubes) and miniature instruments, often fed through blood vessels, to treat areas within the body.
