Adult congenital heart disease (ACHD)

Congenital heart disease is a general term for a range of birth defects that affect the normal way the heart works. The term "congenital" means the condition is present from birth.

We provide support to people aged 16 and over with adult congenital heart disease (ACHD). Most people with ACHD will need long term follow-ups with us.

Our service includes:

  • diagnostic tests to help us assess your health
  • heart rhythm management 
  • catheter intervention
  • heart surgery
  • support transitioning from children's services to adult's
  • support for pulmonary hypertension
  • a maternal cardiology service
  • treatment for connective tissue disorder and cardiac genetics
  • special care dentistry
