The department has been fully accredited to the Clinical Pathology Accreditation (CPA) (UK) Ltd process since 1994 in haematology, molecular genetics and specific biochemical and immunological analyses. It maintains a quality management system providing integration of the organisational structure, procedures, processes and resources needed to fulfil a quality policy.
In addition the diagnostic laboratory services are accredited for teaching with the Institute of Biomedical Science, and the department has received Comprehensive Care Centre certification through regional and national audit.
