Cochlear implantation
This service provides a regional specialist service for the management or profoundly deaf children and adults.
Paediatric ear, nose and throat
This service, based at the Evelina Children's Hospital, acts as a referral centre for local paediatric ear nose and throat conditions and also as a regional tertiary referral centre for paediatric airway problems.
Head and neck cancer
The head and neck cancer centre is situated at Guy's Hospital and acts as the regional referral centre for head and neck oncology. All head and neck cancer patients are managed by a multidisciplinary team to ensure that all aspects of these patients' care is optimal. Thyroid disease and all patients with thyroid cancer are managed in a multidisciplinary clinic.
Rhinology and facial plastics
This service, based at Guy's Hospital, provides specialist services in the management of nasal and sinus disease and acts as a regional and supra-regional centre for complex nasal and sinus disorders. With the advancement of endoscopic techniques, this service also treats patients with problems related to the anterior skull base and pituitary fossa.
Skull base
This service, based at Guy's, Kings College and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, provides a national and international tertiary referral service for the management of tumours and other disorders that affect the anterior, lateral and central skull base.
Other clinics
Emergency clinic
The ENT Department runs an emergency referral clinic four days a week. Appointments to this clinic can be made either by faxing urgent referrals to 020 7188 2206 or bleeping the on-call ENT SHO on bleep 1508.
Allergy clinic
There are combined allergy/ENT clinics that provide a combined multidisciplinary approach for both adults and children who suffer with nasal allergy (hayfever, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis) and asthma.
Voice clinic
This specialist clinic accepts direct referrals from primary care and also interdisciplinary specialist referrals. Criteria for direct GP referrals addressed to Miss E Chevretton at St Thomas' are:

Adults (16 years +)

Intractable hoarseness lasting more than three weeks
-
Low risk for malignancy

Professional voice users, ie when voice use is part of the job - eg teachers, lecturers, call centre workers, barristers, solicitors, singers and actors.
If the GP has any concerns regarding malignancy then the patient should be referred through to a General ENT/Head and Neck Clinic.
Referrals from other hospitals must include a completed
Inter-Provider Minimum Data Set or ensure that one is sent within 48 hours of referring a patient.
