Dr Foster hospital guide
The Dr Foster hospital guide is an independent healthcare report which provides information about all NHS hospitals in England.
It looks at a number of measures of healthcare quality which are considered good indicators of overall performance. These include whether the number of deaths in hospital are higher or lower than expected (mortality rates), and the quality of care provided at weekends.
How are we doing?
Guy’s and St Thomas’ was identified in the latest Dr Foster hospital guide (2013) as having "the best performance of any Trust in England" against four key mortality indicators.
We were also awarded Trust of the year for London and were recognised for providing safe care at weekends.
From the moment patients arrive, whether they are treated in A&E, our intensive care unit or on the wards, patient safety is our top priority. We closely monitor all patients, particularly those who are at risk of becoming seriously ill, for example due to infection or a deterioration in their clinical condition. However, we are not complacent as we know there is always room for improvement.
