Welcome to The Friends of Guy’s and St Thomas’. I hope you will be encouraged to support our work, helping the patients who come to us for treatment.
My association with the hospitals goes back 50 years as I trained at Guy’s both as a dental and medical student. After some years of specialty training in the UK, America and Switzerland, I was appointed professor and consultant ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’. Formerly a Trustee of The Friends, it is now my honour to be their chairman and to serve the hospital’s patients in my retirement.
The Friends of both hospitals merged in 2016. We are committed to improving the experience for those who attend our hospitals as outpatients, inpatients and our visitors. Volunteers are essential to our charity. They support us by helping in our Friends shop, selling items at our fairs and taking part in regular fundraising activities. It is a privilege to work with and for them.
Please read more about our activities and the grants that we have awarded that have benefitted our patients. The NHS cannot fund everything that we would want our patients to have. We want their stay in hospital to be as comfortable as possible.
We are very dependent on gifts and donations. There are many ways you can help us in this respect. No donation is too small. Small things can make big differences to patient care. I would like to thank you for your generosity.
