Valentine's Day heart

With Valentine’s Day now upon us, love it or hate it, millions of Londoners will have made plans for the big day.

But according to the team at the newly opened Burrell Street sexual health clinic (run by Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust) not enough of us are taking the appropriate precautions.

The team at Burrell Street are gearing up to respond to an increase in patient numbers after Valentine’s Day. They offer a wide range of sexual health services to the community from a state-of-the-art building in Burrell Street, SE1.

The new clinic, only 2 minutes from the South Bank exit of Blackfriars station and 3 minutes walk from Southwark tube station, is open 7 days a week providing a full range of sexual health services including rapid HIV testing, sexual health counselling and psychotherapy, and a contraception clinic.

Dr Anatole Menon-Johansson says: “Typically we expect to see an increase in patient numbers coming to the clinic in the weeks after Valentine’s Day for anything from failed contraception to fears over sexually transmitted infections in general.

“We are fortunate to have a team of experts across all fields of sexual health working from one of the finest facilities in Europe. People can feel assured that they can get treatment and advice quickly and confidentially.”
