Gavin and his uncle with their medals.
Our hospitality manager, Gavin Tiffin, completed the final stage of his astonishing mission to run four marathons and a cycle ride in 30 days by finishing the Madrid Marathon in just 3 hours and 32 minutes, beating his previous personal best by five minutes. Gavin is raising money for a tandem mass spectrometer, specialist equipment that will help improve the lives of children at the Evelina Children's Hospital.
Gavin's incredible achievement has seen him pedal for 40 hours covering 315 miles and run 105 miles in just 15 hours, the equivalent of travelling from London to Edinburgh.
Gavin said: "I am a normal person - I am not in a club and I don't do excessive training. I followed an online training guide and ate normally. Anything is possible if you just put your mind to it!"
Amanda Millard, Group Director Operations, Essentia said "What Gavin has done is amazing, and to have completed the challenge in such staggering times, improving his personal best at each leg just confirms how phenomenal this achievement is.
"We are very proud of what he has done and the contribution he has been able to make with his sponsorship from all his friends and colleagues."
To date Gavin has raised £2,000. You can continue to help Gavin to fundraise at virginmoneygiving.com/gavintiffin
