Chief Nurse Eileen Sills has today been named in a pioneering list by the Nursing Times celebrating inspirational nurses and midwives.

In its first year, Leaders recognises those who have shown ‘visionary thinking, had a major positive impact and been role models to others’.

Eileen was chosen to be part of the list for her work on staff engagement and for creating a culture in which staff feel confident to speak out and learn.

Eileen, who has led the nursing workforce at the Trust for the past nine years, says: “It is an honour to be named as a Nursing Times leader. Our Trust has always worked hard to ensure there is a culture of transparency and openness within our organisation. This was crucial in how we responded to the Francis Report. For this to be recognised as part of my nomination is very rewarding.”

The panel of judges said that Eileen was a trusted colleague whose work on staff engagement reaches far beyond just Guy’s and St Thomas’.
