Sky News live from A&E

Last Friday (10 January), Sky News broadcast live all day from St Thomas’ A&E, as part of its week-long focus on winter pressures and the health service.

Interviews with staff and patients were broadcast twice an hour from 7:45am until 5:15pm.

The broadcasts covered important issues, including winter pressures, mental health, the impact of drugs and alcohol, how Guy’s and St Thomas’ supports its staff, youth violence, and initiatives to help the homeless access healthcare.

Several patients were interviewed about their experience. Scott Martin said his care had been “exemplary” and he’d been kept informed at every step.
