Trust wins national sustainability award

Guy’s and St Thomas’ triumphed in the third annual NHS Sustainability Day Awards.

The Trust won the Sustainable Procurement Award and was highly commended for its work to engage staff and patients in environmental sustainability.

Alexandra Hammond, sustainability manager, says: “The procurement award recognises our work to ensure the Trust’s significant buying power is used for good – benefiting the environment, reducing costs, sourcing from ethically responsible suppliers, and directing investment to benefit the local community.”

The awards were judged by a panel of environment and healthcare experts.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ was also recognised for supporting other trusts through the Energy Performance Contract framework, which addresses carbon reduction through energy savings.
