Pies for Guy's competition

Get baking for Guy’s Cancer Centre Appeal and you can help add the finishing touches to our new £160 million Cancer Centre at Guy’s.

Our new ‘Pies for Guy’s’ competition is part of a £15 million appeal - £5 million has already been raised over the past couple of years and now we want to get everyone involved so we can hit our target.

Building work is well underway and we are on track to open our new Cancer Centre to patients in 2016.

Largely funded by the Trust, the building is also made possible by a grant of £25 million from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity and £15 million awarded to King’s College London for a Research and Innovation Hub.

Our £15 million appeal will help us get over the finish line.

Dr Majid Kazmi, Clinical Director of Cancer Services, says: “I’m sure that our Cancer Centre will be perfect but - and it’s a big but - it’s not finished yet.

“Please help our cancer patients receive groundbreaking treatments and the finest care possible.”

If you would like to get involved in Pies for Guy’s, contact our fundraising team on 020 7848 4701 - they will send you a free baking pack including:

  • step-by-step guide to organising your baking event
  • tasty recipes to get you started
  • posters and invitations to promote your event
  • rosettes to give to the top bakers

Get yourself on the fundraising leader board, and you could win a cooking lesson with TV chef Andy Bates, star of Food Network’s ‘Street Feasts’ programme.

Simply sign up to take part in Pies for Guy’s and let the fundraising team know how much you’ve raised by Friday 21 November. The top fundraisers will be invited to take part in a bake-off in early December, judged by Andy himself.

And if you want to support the Cancer Centre in your own way, the fundraising team is here to help.

Whether you want to shave your head, hold a collection at church or organise a ball, your donations will help make life better for people living with cancer.

Contact our fundraising team on 020 7848 4701 for advice on organising your own event, support in setting up an online donation page, and inspiring ideas from other supporters.
