The refurbishment of Guy's Tower included replacing every window, repairing damaged concrete and applying 8,000m² of bespoke aluminium cladding to the outside of the 34-storey landmark building. One of the key aims of the project was to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

The refurbishment project was led by Essentia, Guy’s and St Thomas’ in-house infrastructure provider.

Steve McGuire, Director of Essentia, says: “I feel an enormous sense of pride at what we’ve achieved here. We’ve secured the future of the Tower, a building that will benefit our patients, clinical colleagues and London for the next generation. To have this recognised by two award nominations is quite an achievement.”

You can also vote for Guy’s and St Thomas’ in the 2degrees Champions Awards for leading the NHS in ethical procurement of medical instruments.
