Saying thank you to our volunteers

Volunteers who give up their time to help Guy’s and St Thomas’ were thanked at a special lunch to celebrate their hard work and dedication.

More than 30 volunteers enjoyed the event, which saw certificates presented to long-serving volunteers by Diane Summers, Vice Chair of the Trust Board, and Amanda Pritchard, Acting Chief Executive, in recognition of everything they have done.

Former patient Margaret Donovan, from Rotherhithe, has volunteered at Guy’s Hospital for 15 years. Margaret was so pleased with the care she received she decided to get involved at the hospital.

Margaret, who gives directions to patients and visitors, said: “I enjoy speaking to people and helping them. I really feel like I’m giving a service to the hospital.”

There are more than 600 volunteers at the Trust who contribute approximately 32,000 hours of their time every year.

Amanda Millard, Director of Patient and Carer Experience, said: “Our volunteers are an important part of the Trust and we’re immensely grateful for their commitment.”
