Staff from Guy’s and St Thomas’ won two categories at the Healthcare People Management Association (HPMA) Excellence Awards on Thursday 18 June.

The Trust won the Social Partnership Forum Award for the innovative ‘passport to management’ training course. This two-day leadership course was developed in partnership by management and trade union colleagues.

It focuses on team leadership, communication, managing change and performance management. The course is very popular, and feedback has shown that managers who complete it feel more empowered and confident. The programme is led by staff side chair Dino Williams, acting associate director of workforce Alison Hall and leadership and management development manager Adnan Bajwa.

The organisational development team also won the Chamberlain Dunn Learning award for excellence in organisational development. The team, including Hendrika Santer Bream, Carolyn Norgate and Paul Mulligan, was recognised for its long-term impact in developing an engaged and motivated workforce.

The Trust was also commended in a further two categories for its health and well-being programme, ‘5-ways to a healthier YOU’, and for its ‘How can I help?’ initiative to change the experience of mothers and staff in women’s services.

Ann Macintyre, director of workforce, says: “I am delighted to see four of our teams recognised in the HPMA Excellence Awards. Congratulations to all staff who were involved with these programmes – this is a great achievement.”
