Guy's and St Thomas' appoints Chief Operating Officer

We are delighted to announce that Jon Findlay has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. 

Jon is currently Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, an Executive Director role he has held since January 2014.

Before working at Southend, he was Director of Operations at Guy’s and St Thomas’ where he was responsible for operational performance and the strategic development of clinical services across the two hospital sites. 

Jon has 14 years’ experience working at Director level. His roles have spanned clinical operations, service modernisation, performance improvement, human resources and workforce planning, as well as initiatives such as the National Patient Access Team and NHS franchising. 

Amanda Pritchard, Chief Executive of Guy’s and St Thomas’, says: “I am very pleased that we will be welcoming Jon back to the Trust as our new Chief Operating Officer. 

“Since his move to Southend, Jon has not only had the opportunity to experience a different organisational culture and new approaches but also as Deputy Chief Executive he has broadened his experience of both the internal and external agendas, particularly through working in partnership with other NHS providers and national teams at NHS England and NHS Improvement.”

Jon says: “I am very much looking forward to returning to Guy’s and St Thomas’. There are many unique challenges, as well as fantastic opportunities, at a Trust of this size and complexity.

“Across the NHS we are experiencing significant change, particularly as we are now expected to work in a more collaborative way to deliver high quality care and service transformation for a wider health economy. It is positive to see that Guy’s and St Thomas’ is helping to lead the Sustainability and Transformation Plan for South East London, and I look forward to contributing to this.”
