Leading health professionals recognised in Queen's birthday honours

Two top health experts at Guy’s and St Thomas’ have been recognised in the Queen’s birthday honours list.

Dr Ingrid Wolfe received an OBE for services to child health and Dr Miranda Lomer has been awarded an MBE for services to dietetics and gastroenterology.

Dr Wolfe is a consultant in children’s public health medicine at Evelina London Children’s Hospital. She is also Director of the Evelina London Child Health Partnership, leading the development and evaluation of a new model of children’s healthcare in south London. 

Dr Wolfe says: “It’s wonderful that child public health is being recognised in such a public way. I am really pleased and honoured to be associated with Evelina London and to lead our children and young people’s health partnership work across Lambeth and Southwark. It’s a privilege to be part of such a great team.”

Dr Lomer, senior consultant dietitian in gastroenterology, is a leader in the dietary management of functional bowel disorders and inflammatory bowel disease. She has published British Dietetic Association guidelines for Crohn's disease and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Dr Lomer leads an educational course for dietitians on the low FODMAP diet and has trained more than 800 dietitians in this successful dietary treatment for IBS.

Dr Lomer says: “I am absolutely delighted and humbled to have been recognised for my work and it is an honour to receive such an award.”
