Organ Donation Week (Monday 4-Sunday 10 September) is a national annual awareness week to celebrate those who have saved lives by signing up to the organ donor register, and to encourage more people to sign up. On average, three people die every day across the UK because there is a shortage of donated organs.
When you do sign up, it’s important to discuss your decision with your family, so they know it’s your wish to save lives after your death (one organ donor can save or transform the lives of up to nine people).
You can sign up to the Organ Donor Register online at www.organdonation.nhs.uk, or by phoning 0300 123 23 23.
Find out more about organ donation at our information session. We will also be holding a session on Thursday 7 September at Guy's Hospital.
