Description
Dying Matters week - 'A wake in progress'

Join us for an evening of performance and discussion during Dying Matters week (Monday 13 May to Sunday 19 May).

‘Let’s talk: transforming end of life care conversations’ is an initiative led by Guy’s and St Thomas’ that aims to improve the experience of patients, carers, staff and the general public in talking about and preparing for death.

Earlier this year we collaborated with fringe theatre festival, VAULT, to open up the conversation about death and grief. Our programme, '#LetsTalk @VAULT festival' included 76 events and reached over 3,000 people.

On Tuesday 14 May we will be joined by one of our collaborating productions, Fine Mess Theatre, who will perform 'A wake in progress' at the riverside Marquee, St Thomas’ Hospital. After the performance we will host a 'death café', an open, respectful and confidential space where people can express their views safely. Information to support planning ahead will be available, including resources from Compassion in Dying and Coordinate My Care.

Everyone is also welcome to come to our 'dying matters' stalls, for information, support and guidance:

  • Tuesday 14 May, 10am-3pm, Birdsong Corridor, St Thomas’ Hospital
  • Thursday 16 May, 10am-3pm, main reception, Guy’s Hospital.
