The World Health Organization has declared 2020 the 'International year of the nurse and the midwife' to mark the bicentenary of the birth of pioneering nurse Florence Nightingale.
Florence Nightingale set up her first nursing school at St Thomas' Hospital in 1860, establishing Guy's and St Thomas' as the home of modern nursing.
Throughout 2020, we will be celebrating Florence Nightingale's legacy with activities and events to honour our fantastic nurses and midwives.
We're launching our year of celebrations at St Thomas' Hospital on Wednesday 22 January. Come along to hear a few words from our Chief Nurse, Dame Eileen Sills, and find out how we are planning to celebrate throughout the year.
