Biography

Alvaro Garcia-Ropero is an honorary consultant cardiologist at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. He is also clinical lead for heart failure at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

Alvaro has extensive teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. He was an honorary clinical lecturer in Madrid. He is also a clinical and educational supervisor for students from King's College London based at University Hospital Lewisham.

Publications

His PhD was on the cardiovascular effects of Empagliflozin (a sodium-glucose co-transporter inhibitor) in a preclinical model of ischaemic heart failure without diabetes mellitus. He has several publications about this work in some of the most prestigious International Cardiovascular Journals.
