Paul Cane

Consultant histopathologist and clinical director of pathology
Biography
Paul Cane is the clinical director of pathology for the pathology joint venture, Viapath. He is responsible for the quality and safety of pathology testing provided by the Viapath laboratories located within Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals.
He is a member of the lung cancer Clinical Expert Group for NHS England and was a member of the NICE Guideline Development Group responsible for the current national guidelines for the diagnosis and management of lung cancer.
He was the project lead for the LungPath project, a national audit examining the quality of pathological diagnosis of lung cancer in England.
Research interests
He is pathology advisor to CRUK's Stratified Medicine Programme.

Specialist interests
His major interests are improving the quality of pathology provision to the South East London Network, improving pathways for cancer diagnosis and the introduction of novel cancer tests.
