Biography

Syed Gardezi is a consultant cardiologist at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. He graduated from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan.

He has been awarded memberships from the Royal College of Physicians, Ireland (MRCPI) and the Royal College of Physicians, London (MRCPUK).

Syed completed his sub-specialty training at the North West London Foundation School. He completed his research fellowship at the Radcliffe department of medicine, University of Oxford. His thesis was on the clinical epidemiology of atrial fibrillation in an elderly population cohort and its association with valvular heart disease.

His research work has led to national and international presentations as well as publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.

Syed was awarded the SEDA-PDF Supporting Learning award by the Oxford Learning Institute. He teaches undergraduate students and postgraduate trainees. In recognition of his teaching expertise and contributions he was awarded membership of the Academy of Medical Educators (MAcadMEd). He is also actively involved in teaching medical professionals both nationally and internationally.
