  • Biography

    Veronica Tan, MD FRCP, was appointed consultant clinical neurophysiologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ in 2004. She has an Honorary consultant appointment at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, and at the MRC Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases, Queen Square.

  • Education and training

    After obtaining a BSc in Infection and Immunity (1st class Hons), and qualifying in Medicine (M.B.,B.S., UCL), Veronica trained in Neurology. She obtained a Doctorate (MD, 1997) for research into disorders of the spinal cord in HIV infection, working at the Chelsea and Westminster and Charing Cross Hospitals, and at the Institute of Neurology, Queen Square.

    As a consultant neurologist in Malaysia she was encouraged to specialise in neuromuscular disorders, and on return to the UK undertook further training in clinical neurophysiology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, where she developed her clinical and research interests in the neuronal and muscle channelopathies.
