Area of expertise: fine needle aspiration, minimally invasive cancer diagnosis, EBUS, histopathology, cytopathology, diagnosis of leukemia and lymphoma, thyroid, adrenal and endocrine malignancies, mastocytosis.
Mufaddal Moonim joined Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in 2006.
His subspecialist interests are in the diagnosis of leukaemias and lymphomas, thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal tumours and interventional cytology.
He specialises in fine needle aspiration of lumps and bumps (FNA clinics) and minimally invasive cancer diagnostics. He is part of the 'One stop' head and neck FNA clinics and EBUS services, which allow for immediate diagnosis of lumps/lesions, both of which have significantly reduced the time it takes to make a confidant diagnosis of cancer.
He is lead clinician for haematopathology and endocrine pathology, senior author of the national adrenal cancer dataset, co-author of the ICCR thyroid cancer dataset and is also secretary of the UK Endocrine Pathology Society (UKEPS).
