Biography

Beth Guildford has worked for the NHS since 2003.

She leads the pain and orofacial conditions department of the dental psychology service.

Beth treats people experiencing oral conditions including persistent orofacial pain, temporomandibular disorder (TMD) and auto-immune oral conditions (like Sjörgren's and Behçet's).

As well as working directly with patients, Beth provides clinical supervision and management to other psychologists in Guys and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

Before working in the dental psychology service, Beth worked in a specialist pain management centre with people with persistent pain and in primary care. Since completing her doctorate in clinical psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London in 2008, Beth has completed advanced training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She teaches about ACT and chronic pain on several post-graduate courses.

Beth is registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and holds full accreditation with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP).
