CGRP monoclonal antibody clinic for preventing migraines

This clinic offers a new preventative injection for migraine patients called Ajovy® (fremanezumab). It is given once a month or every 3 months.

Facial pain clinic

Fast track cluster headache clinic

Time: once every 2 weeks

For people with cluster headache. You must be having a cluster headache attack to be referred, or expecting to be soon.

We aim to see you within 2 weeks of referral. Your GP or hospital consultant can refer you.

Headache procedure clinic

We offer treatments including:

  • Botox (botulinum toxin type A) injections for preventing headaches in adults with chronic migraines
  • greater occipital nerve (GON) injection at the back of the head for temporary relief from headache and facial pain
  • multiple cranial nerve injection above the ear or in the forehead for relief from headache and facial pain
  • minimally invasive sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) blocks using an injection of local anaesthetic or steroid through the cheek
  • pulsed radiofrequency treatments for headache and facial pain. This uses a needle through the cheek to give an electrical impulse to the SPG or trigeminal ganglion nerves

Invasive headache neuromodulation clinic

We offer treatments including:

  • occipital nerve stimulation. This involves implanting a small device for sending electrical impulses
  • cervical spinal cord stimulation. This involves electrical stimulation of nerves using a small implanted battery

Non-invasive headache neuromodulation clinic

Clinic runs: weekly

Nurse-led clinic offering single pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (sTMS).

We are the only NHS service to provide this treatment for migraine patients.

sTMS uses magnets to apply pulses to the brain using a handheld device that you control. The aim is to reduce pain signals in the brain.

Psychology and physiotherapy headache clinic

  • advice from a psychologist specialising in headache and facial pain
  • physiotherapy for headache and facial pain
  • acupuncture treatment for migraines (clinic runs 2 times a week)
