  • Biography

    Sue Cox has worked within kidney care since 1993, taking a four year break to gain experience in intensive care between 1995 and 1999.

    Following the completion of an MSc in nursing, Sue moved to Guy's Hospital in 2003 to become lead nurse in the peritoneal dialysis unit and kidney clinic. She started her current post in 2005.

    Sue is:

    • British Renal Society (BRS) programme chair for 2012 and 2013 conferences
    • nephrology audit lead at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital
    • a member of the London Renal Strategic Clinical Leadership Group
    • a member of the strategic planning group for the National Clinical Director for Renal services
    • a member of the national forum to support young adults with kidney disease.

    Sue oversees the young adult transition programme for young adults either moving across from children's services or being referred directly to adult services.

    She also manages the peer support service for kidney patients at Guy's Hospital.

    • provision of education, support and care to those people in the pre-dialysis and pre-transplantation phase of their kidney disease
    • shared decision making and peer support
    • provision of services for young adults with kidney disease.
