Fibromyalgia clinic referrals

NHS GP referrals

All NHS GP referrals must be submitted through the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS). Referrals sent by email or post will not be processed.

Referral criteria

Due to the high demand for this clinic we can only accept referrals for patients with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia following appropriate assessment and investigation. We do not provide a primary diagnostic service or follow up appointments. The aim of this clinic is to provide multidisciplinary management recommendations appropriate to the individual at that time.

For some patients, this may include a recommendation for a pain management programme. Therefore, for patients who have already been referred to a pain management programme, our clinic review would be unnecessary and the referral will not be accepted.

If a second opinion is required this should be obtained via a general rheumatology clinic.

Please provide appropriate background information which may include details of investigation results and previous specialist assessments. Without this information, we are unable to triage the referrals appropriately and therefore, not be able to accept the referral.
