Waiting times for cancer treatment to start
If you are diagnosed with cancer, you can expect to begin your treatment within one month. This includes all forms of treatment – surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
What's the standard?
It is expected that at least 96% of patients will start their cancer treatment within 31 days of diagnosis.
How are we doing?
Our recent performance:
- March 2017 – 93.3% of our cancer patients began their treatment within one month
- February – 95.3%
- January – 93.2%.
How you can help us
We aim to minimise any delays. You can help us by letting us know immediately if you are unable to keep your appointment.
We will then offer you an alternative date and give your appointment to another patient.
You can change your appointment online or by phone.
