Clinical work experience

Clinical work experience studentsThe Trust offers clinical insight experiences (i.e. clinical work experience) to students planning to pursue a career in healthcare.

Who can apply for a clinical placement?

To apply for a clinical insight experience you must be:

  • planning to pursue a career in medicine, or another professional healthcare occupation, for example, nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy or pharmacy
  • in or about to start your first year of 'A' levels or equivalent educational qualifications, and achieving the predicted grades required for university entrance to the professional training qualification you are pursuing.

We’ll consider applications for clinical placements from individuals who live or attend an educational institute in London, Kent and Medway. However because of the high demand for placements, priority is given to applicants from the London Boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, as well as students studying at non-selective state schools.

How do I apply?

To express an interest please e-mail Joel Ryden, work placement co-ordinator at|.

If you have any questions about these placements, please contact Joel on 020 7188 8124.

We can’t consider applications where you don’t fit the criteria or follow the correct procedure for expressing an interest.

All eligible applications are dealt with in strict rotation. We receive high demand for these placements, particularly during the summer months (June–September), and we may not be able to accommodate every request we receive.

If you do not receive an offer of a placement within three months of your initial request, you should assume that there is no availability at this time. Unsuccessful applicants are welcome to re-apply at a later date.
