The Dental Institute
The Dental Institute is comprised of three components:
Guy's HospitalThe institute is based on both the Guy's and St Thomas' campuses. Both sites offer modern facilities for the care of patients, teaching and research. The institute is committed to becoming the major dental university hospital in the UK and to staying in the forefront of patient care, teaching and research.
The Dental Hospital and Institute together aim to provide excellence in the delivery of oral and dental care, training and education. As a teaching hospital, the majority of outpatients are treated by students under the direct supervision of a registered dentist.
The Dental Institute comprises of 12 dental specialities and:
- Dental chair271 dental chairs
- 780 undergraduate students
- 143 postgraduate students
- 200 dental nurses and nursing assistants
- 10 general nurses
- 312 dentists
- 7 hygienists/therapists
- 65 administrative and clerical staff
- 22 technicians and laboratory assistants.
