William and his grandfather Tom
The paralympic torch relay passed St Thomas’ Hospital this afternoon, and staff were there to cheer it on.
Patients at the Evelina Children’s Hospital were lucky enough to receive a visit from one of the torch bearers. Tom Middleton is the assistant coach of the paralympic volleyball team and he carried the torch through Lambeth today. He brought the torch in to show patients at the Evelina, including his grandson, William, who has been a patient for the past six weeks.
“The staff have been absolutely fantastic at the Evelina,” said William’s father, Martin, “but we’re pleased he will be going home tomorrow.”
