A doctor at Evelina London Children’s Hospital has been named in Health Service Journal magazine’s Rising Stars list.

Judges described Dr Claire Lemer, 37, as “a great clinician and extremely humble − quietly brilliant”.

Claire, one of only 25 “healthcare leaders of tomorrow” celebrated in the Rising Stars list, says: “It’s humbling to be included and very unexpected. Success is about team work and I couldn’t be where I am today without my colleagues.”

Dr Lemer has worked in London and Boston in public health, quality improvement and clinical leadership. She has co-authored two books on medical management and has degrees from Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard and London.

Claire is currently working on a project at Evelina London to ensure GPs, hospitals, schools and social care services all work together to offer children the best possible care.

“This project is why I get up every morning. We’re looking at things from child and family perspectives to see how we can make improvements to children’s healthcare in south London”, she added.

The Health Service Journal Rising Stars were chosen based on the impact they had within their organisation and beyond, the extent to which they were prepared to challenge conventional approaches and how they were supporting other young people to progress within healthcare.
