Cancer nurse joins national taskforce

A chemotherapy nurse consultant at Guy's and St Thomas' has been appointed to a national taskforce working to improve cancer care across the country.

Catherine Oakley has been selected to join the taskforce set up by NHS England and chaired by Harpal Kumar, Chief Executive of Cancer Research UK.

Catherine says: "I'm greatly excited to be joining NHS England's cancer taskforce as this is an important opportunity to drive forward improvements in cancer care and survival rates across the country.  

"The cancer nursing community has a key role to play in this vital work. I'm very pleased that cancer nursing expertise will be contributing towards the taskforce and I feel honoured to be representing my colleagues."

Catherine, who is also President of the UK Oncology Nursing Society, has worked in cancer care for more than 20 years. She has contributed towards a number of national cancer projects and recently completed a PhD through King’s College London.
