Professor Reza Razavi has been appointed to serve as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

Professor Razavi is Assistant Principal for Research and Innovation at King’s College London. He is also Director of Research at King’s Health Partners and a paediatric cardiologist at Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

His research focus is on imaging and biomedical engineering related to cardiovascular disease. With many years of experience in this field, Professor Razavi helped to establish the Trust’s cardiovascular MRI service and developed the world’s first cardiovascular MRI cardiac catheterisation programme.

Professor Razavi says: “It’s a great honour to be joining Guy’s and St Thomas’ Board. The Trust is at the forefront of all sorts of innovative work and has a proud reputation of providing excellent care for patients.

“The Board holds the important responsibility of setting the strategic direction of the Trust and I look forward to contributing to this as a Non-Executive Director.”

Professor Razavi was nominated to the Board by King’s College London, as the Trust’s partnership with the university means that it nominates a Non-Executive Director to the Guy’s and St Thomas’ Board for a four-year term.

He replaces Professor Frank Nestle, who joined the Board in 2009 and has now stepped down.

Sir Hugh Taylor, Chairman of Guy’s and St Thomas’ says: “We’re very pleased to welcome Professor Razavi as our new Non-Executive Director. His track record of achievement in clinical research and in leadership roles means he brings a wealth of skills and experience that will undoubtedly benefit the Board.

“I’d also like to thank Professor Nestle for his years of service. He has been a real asset to the Board and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
