Patient Governor Devon Allison was elected as the new Lead Governor at a public meeting of the Council of Governors on Wednesday 26 April.

Devon has succeeded Professor John Porter who has stepped down after four years in the role. He will continue to serve the Trust as a Public Governor.

Sir Hugh Taylor, Chairman of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, praised the outgoing Lead Governor for his contribution.

“The Trust and Governors are immensely grateful to John for the way he has undertaken the role of Lead Governor. He has made it his own and I have been grateful for his wisdom and support. I look forward to working with Devon Allison in what is a pivotal role.”

Devon Allison said: “Joining the Council of Governors was made much easier for me by John Porter, who made himself available with such wisdom and good humour.  While I cannot claim John’s long experience, I will work hard for the Trust and my fellow governors.”

Devon has taken part in a number of voluntary activities and is interested in patient experience, particularly children’s experience in hospital. She has been involved in various quality improvement projects, represented patient interest at committees within the Trust, and led the Council of Governors’ Quality and Engagement Working Group which focuses on patient experience, engagement, quality improvement and safety activities across the Trust.

The Council of Governors represents the views and opinions of Foundation Trust members – members of the public living locally, patients and staff. They act as a link between members and the Trust Board. For further information or to contact any of the governors, please email [email protected].
