Information for outpatients
-
How do I get an appointment?
We accept referrals from GPs, however many patients are referred by other hospital doctors and from physiotherapists.
-
Cancelling or changing your appointment
To cancel or change an appointment, please call our appointments line on: 020 7188 2207 (adults) or 020 7188 4000 (children's).
-
Before your appointment
Please bring a list of any medicines that you are currently taking.
If your symptoms are irregular, keeping a diary of them may be useful.
You should avoid aspirin for a week prior to the appointment.
-
What to expect at your appointment
Your initial appointment is usually with a team of three to four doctors and facial therapists.
You'll be asked to fill in some questionnaires on arrival, and are likely to have a video record made of your facial nerve function.
Some patients may have facial botulinum toxin (botox) injections as part of their visit.
The whole process may take up to two hours.
-
After your appointment
Arrangements for any follow-up care will depend on the outcome of your initial appointment.
