Gynaecology

Referrals

We accept referrals from GPs and other medical doctors.

GP referrals

All NHS GP referrals must be submitted using the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS).

You need to do this within 24 hours of your consultation with your patient.

Referrals sent by email or post from NHS GPs will not be processed.

Tertiary referrals

Email your referral to us.

We aim to review all referrals within 48 hours.

2-week wait (2WW) referrals

For 2-week-wait referrals please see the gynaecological cancer referrals page.

Urgent referrals

Our early pregnancy and acute gynaecology unit sees:

  • people with problems in early pregnancy (up to 18 weeks), such as pain, bleeding or severe vomiting, they can self-refer and do not need an appointment
  • non-pregnant people only if they have been assessed and referred by a GP or hospital doctor in another department. If you are not sure whether to make a referral, please call 020 7188 0864 or the switchboard on 020 7188 7188 and ask for the on-call gynaecology registrar (bleep 0480) for advice

Outside of the unit's opening hours, referrals should be directed to the emergency department (A&E).
