Obstetric haematology services

For women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant

Our service

Our obstetric haematology service is for patients who are either pregnant or planning to get pregnant and have a blood condition. This might range from general haematology problems such as iron deficiency or low platelets, blood transfusion problems or more complex conditions such as sickle cell disease.

Our specialist haematology obstetric consultant, Dr Susan Robinson, provides this service together with the obstetric service, which includes specialised obstetricians and midwives.

The obstetric haematology subgroup of the British Society of Haematology is led by Professor Beverley Hunt. We have internationally renowned expertise in the management of thrombosis, thrombophillia and myeloproliferative disease in pregnancy, together with an excellent sickle cell pregnancy service.
