Complex neurodevelopmental disabilities service

Newcomen Centre reception

The complex neurodevelopmental disabilities service provides a regional and national service for the assessment, diagnosis and management of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities.

What is a neurodevelopmental disability?

A neurodevelopmental disability can affect children and young people's development, including their intellectual, motor, communication, behaviour and/or social development.

Our service

We provide a broad range of services and work with children and families in a range of settings including the NHS, schools, charities and social services.

Our patients receive support from a number of professionals, such as doctors, nurses, health visitors, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and dietitians. This approach is described as 'multi-disciplinary'.

We work closely with colleagues in other services, for example our epilepsy and motor disorders teams, to make sure that our young patients receive the right assessment and care in the most appropriate setting.

Who can use our service

We receive referrals from the south east of England and beyond. We also support specialist teams across the region.
